33 Best R/mathteachers Images On Pholder | What Destroyed The American Dream? Why are people (at least on reddit) so confidently incorrect when it comes to math problems? i've seen this so often that i'm starting to wonder if there's an actual psychological reason behind it. In a comment on my last post, tracy zager wrote about a childhood math teacher who responded to one of her questions with, essentially, “just go with it, tracy, okay? that’s how math works.” how do we handle the moment when it becomes clear, in front of the class, that we don’t understand some math we thought we understood?. For context, i failed math horribly through school (less than 25/100) and graduated with 10.5/100 after hardcore tutoring that tore my soul apart. fast forward to today, i program software with only basic maths if needed. Kids are not mastering basic math skills in the primary grades because the curriculum maps only give them between 5 8 days to teach each skill. most kids now do not understand place value, were never taught numbers above 1,000 so when they get to 4th grade and above, they are failing miserably.

Adding a zero to the number doesn't change its value, because the number zero has no value. lol i'll keep that in mind next time i code an off by ten error in one of my scripts again. it'll be comforting to my boss : ) how did you know that i am a plumber? no, 0.02% is not the same as 2%. La times dropped a bombshell: "many elementary teachers don’t understand math very well, and teaching it makes them anxious." this is a surprise? i thought it was pretty well known. i have heard multiple elem teachers say, "i teach elementary bc i dont like math.". Prime numbers don't change which is good to know as opposed to all the other numbers that change all the time, like yesterday i was graphing y = 8 and then all of a sudden bam y = 92 it was so annoying and i had to redo everything. however that means prime numbers are super easy to discover. Knowing the amount of force it takes to unstick magnets from each other, our legs would be more jacked/muscular because of it. and clearly we’re not walking like we have super glue in each step so…. gravity is the weakest little bitch force. gravity is weak but also strong.
