I'm a s&w guy, but i thoroughly enjoyed the video. there is a lot more precision machining that i would have thought, and i was interested in the tolerances mentioned during the tour. i would like to have known what the b/c gap tolerances are. anyway, i can see why pythons cost as much as they do impressive colt mfg. making the python video.

Modern Python Vs Modern S&W | Page 4 | Colt Forum I had a python back in 1977, and i'm telling you, it's been the worst handgun i've ever carried. the gun didn't time correctly and it spit lead shavings everywhere, on nearly every chambered round. The two of interest to me would be comparing a new 3” 686 & the new 3” python. i would have to change the 686 grips to the older combat style, but also swap the laminate grips off the python. The finish is much more flawless than any smith or ruger, with more shop time to produce. the python is quite a bit more costly to manufacture with more cnc machining and finish time involved. it has more geometrically complex parts, which means more machine cycle time to produce those parts. Having finally gained possession of both an original and 2020 6" python in blue i thought it'd be informative to visually compare them and get my perspectives on each, along with a brief shooting evaluation. I didn't start this thread to bash either brand or vs. one another, and i understand what you're saying about posting a python compared to 686 on a s&w forum. i was just wanting to start a discussion comparing the two fine revolvers, along with getting others input and opinions.
