Manual | TDIClub Forums In actual driving the manual is consistently 3 5mpg better for most drivers. the 6th gear is lower for one, so at the speeds most people drive at your're at a better rpm in the manual. that said, as far as automatic transmissions go, the dsg is a darn good one. i don't regret having one. I just had a test drive yesterday with the manual transmission and it was nice to be shifting again after 13 years in my 1995 e320 mercedes. as fun as it was to shift, i wonder if i will miss the convenience of the automatic. I am looking for a used tdi new beetle, and have owned a manual tdi golf in the past. lately i've seen quite a few automatic tdis for sale, and was wondering if there are any pros and cons when buying a used automatic vs. manual tdi. Head over to myturbodiesel and tdiclub and search this topic, others have done this before. i started the swap this weekend. i got the dsg removed tonight.

Looking for a dd that will be relatively trouble free and last a while. new to tdis (but always loved diesel vws) and don't know much .which is the best choice? given that all of these cars are old enough that they will have some miles on them, i'd go for a 2015 jetta/golf/sportwagen. Since diesel engines are truly a different engine from a gasser, and most people when getting a tdi for the first time don't know the importance of that little statement, i offer this thread to you. this thread is going to suggest and give you all the basic, important information, that every tdi owner should know. 1. Fred's tdi page and forums. also called tdiclub.com, a great place to make other dieselheads interested in the vw group's tdi (turbo direct injection) diesel including audi. Sites like that and tdiclub that collect and maintain info related to keeping discontinued but loved cars on the road will always have a devoted audience, even if it's small.
