Geometry Nodes - Trouble Aligning Instances Along Curve - Modeling - Blender Artists Community I’ve tried replacing the resample curve node with a curve to points node, which allows me to connect a rotaton / normal socket to the rotation input socket of the instance on point node, but that doesn’t get me the right result. You have the right idea: sample the nearest point on the curve, get the tangent of that point, and then align the rotations of your instances to that vector. let's see how we could manage that here.

Geometry Nodes - Trouble Aligning Instances Along Curve - Modeling - Blender Artists Community How can i align the planes instances such that the y axis of each plane is parallel to the curve, and the x axis of the planes are parallel to the ground plane (x and y axis)?. So the way this works is you use the tangent of the curve to get a vector you want to align your instances to. you can then use the align euler to vector node to choose the correct alignment. here i chose ‘y’ because the instance object is on the y axis. if it was on the x axis i’d use x instead. Align instances to curve. if it's not too late, perhaps it's easier to defer the conversion of curve to mesh, and let geometry nodes do it for you, if you need to do it at all. The main issue i am running into is that the geometry instantiated at sample curve factor 0.0 seems to align correctly, whereas when i move it into the 1.0 position, it is ever so slightly off. Last updated on 06/23/2025. I am having a real problem figuring out how to fix this. i have instanced an object along a curve and applied the rotation of each point, but the corners average the angle of the segment before and after. Hey everyone, a quick technical tutorial today. a common issue i found using curves with geometry nodes is the odd rotation of it's normals. with the new curve to points node this has become.
