I am looking to match a new floating line to my older scott g series rod 9', 4wt, 2pc. since i bought the rod used last year, i have been fishing an sa mastery gpx wf4f line that i acquired as a bonus on a reel i bought on ebay. not sure how old the line is seems supple enough but there. Any floating advise on the satsop river? boat access points, distance of float, and difficulty from east fork to west fork. i know logs change every year. thanks and if anyone knows of a good available guide, let us all know.

Floating Static Route » NetworkUstad Has anyone ever floated this area? from what i've managed to dig up so far is it's about 15 miles and there is a campground about the 10 mile mark. what i hope to find is a map the shows areas for drift boat launch sites and take outs and camping info in this area. we are planning on floating. In a short time an inebriated man on a tube tied to 2 others (one looked to hold a beer cooler) came floating by and asked if we had seen 2 women floating by. he was pretty incompetent, but at least had lots of floatation. I'm considering a multi day float trip down the grande ronde later this fall. i fished the river once years ago but have never floated it. any thoughts/advice regarding the difficulty of the float? i have a pretty big wooden drift boat. i have experience behind the oars but not extensive. i. If you float from the county park at rockport to the mouth of the baker river in concrete, you will encounter a lot of good looking and occasionally productive steelhead fly water. it's an all day float. don't expect solitude; the skagit is a popular river. you could also float downstream of concrete, but the good fly water is further apart and less easy for a novice to recognize. good luck! sg.
