In recent years i've been satisfied with installing a more complete distro and using dwm as my primary window manager, usually with about 130mb to 250mb of ram in use initially.

[dwm] Dwm Has Been Getting Popular Recently : R/unixporn Here are some cool things you can try if you are a linux user: check out r/unixporn and deskto.ps to see some cool setups. twms are really popular on r/unixporn and a good starting point is i3wm. it seems to be the most popular one. tsoding and theprimeagen use this one. I will say that dwm's dynamic window managing is blazing fast, and so is dwm's start up time (i know for a fact that dwm and its status bar starts up faster than xmonad. i3 is probably fast too, but that's all i can say right now). Long rant aside, i don't dislike i3 or other wm's but there's a clear winner for me and until i find something better or until i get the urge to do this advanced hacking myself, i'll stick to dwm. We stand in solidarity with numerous people who need access to the api including bot developers, people with accessibility needs (r/blind) and 3rd party app users (apollo, sync, etc.).

[dwm] Dwm Has Been Getting Popular Recently : R/unixporn Long rant aside, i don't dislike i3 or other wm's but there's a clear winner for me and until i find something better or until i get the urge to do this advanced hacking myself, i'll stick to dwm. We stand in solidarity with numerous people who need access to the api including bot developers, people with accessibility needs (r/blind) and 3rd party app users (apollo, sync, etc.). How the heck are you guys getting such a good looking top bar. i've copied luke smith's dotfiles but definitely want something similar to this. I wouldn't use dwm if you don't want to patch things. there are other tools that aren't as anemic that accomplish the same thing. Bspwm isn't dynamic, but it has an option to run a software as floating, and it works good not great for me. i am hoping dwm is "works like it would if it were floating with no caveats". Here's the same scene, right after swapping wallpapers with pywal: pretty lockscreen achieved by combing grim imagemagick swaylock. all parts of the interface are themed with pywal, not just terminal colors. this includes the bar, app launcher, notifications, and even the lock screen.
