Boost Bypass Not Opening | SVTPerformance.com Yes, the bypass actuator is set up to open the bypass valve when vacuum is applied to the upper port. if there is no vacuum or there is boost at the upper port, the actuator will close the bypass valve. The problem is that when this boost bypass is energized, it remains in that position for quite some period of time. this only seems to happen when doing tire warming at the track and the first time you find out that the bypass is in 0 boost mode is about 30 ft from the start line on your way to a 17sec @ 78 mph pass.

Boost Bypass Not Opening | SVTPerformance.com I pull over to do the boost bypass mod in case i don't have it set correctly, and it is sitting wide open at idle. did the vacuum hose switch and nothing changes. Here is how to do this mod. first remove the two vacume lines that attach to the top and bottom of the boost bypass actuator. then remove the two vacume fittings from the ends of the hard plastic lines and replace them with the correct size caps. all that is left to do now is remove the vacuum line from the frps sensor at the end of the fuel rail. I've been seriously considering the wot boost dump mod but am leary since any roots type blower i've ever seen had a pop off valve to dump excessive boost. just wondering if the so called boost bypass mod is in any way detrimental to the longevity of our engines!. I understand how the bypass works and why. my point is: a bypass valve that is disconnected (electrically or mechanically) can still open (even if a bit) and rob you of boost. the bypass valve is normally shut (actuator relaxed) and at idle will be opened (actuator engaged).

The bypass valve is integrated in the supercharging system. when low engine power is required, the bypass allows air to enter the engine without passing through the supercharger. Remove the hose that goes to the boost by pass valve from the hand vacuum pump. this will release the vacuum on the boost by pass valve and apply that certain measured amount of downward force on the lever. The boost stayed on until redline unlike before and there seemed to be a bit more as well. i've since pullied up and thought about reverting back to stock but after doing dyno runs w a/f and seeing no tune issues i decided not to. The boost bypass mod is a mechanism which prevents the blower from auto releasing the accumulated air overflow (otherwise known as "boost"). doing the boost bypass mod "tricks" (prevents) the blower from "letting off" and allows you to stay in boost longer which could result in the extreme increase of temperature generated from the blower.
