A place to discuss substack, the newsletters, and the platform. Substack started feeling like medium where most writers were just writing about how to get popular rather than publishing substantive material. substack itself spammed my e mail. i was happy to receive newsletters i'd signed up for, but all the excess became infuriating.

I like substack because it’s a creator driven platform. depends on what your goals are, but with our newsletter the goal is to write something that other people can see. Substack feels a lot more intimate than other blogs. if you spend some time reading some of the more popular substacks, you'll start to get a feel for what i mean. to me, it feels more like a public journal service than a "blog" meant to push products on people. my biggest piece of advice would be to just start writing. Until recently, i could see the posts that i'd liked by going to my profile, which gave the option of either seeing the posts that i've posted on my substack, or the posts that other people have posted on their substacks that i have liked. Is substack worth it to you as a writer or as a reader? new to substack and i am trying to get a grasp of how much writers love it but also if readers willingly pay and find value in it. i understand its success speaks for itself to a certain degree. For most substack posters, substack itself is not going to help with growing viewership. there might be a tad bit of help with discovery, but there are so many substack channels that it is unlikely to have much effect. i find it handy to deal with the administrative issues around billing and mail.
